Martha Greene Real Estate was established in 1952 by Martha Greene and her sister, Constance. The Greenes placed their office on a piece of commercial land on Main Street that they leased from the White family. They had an intimate knowledge of the history and evolution of Montauk and its real estate. Together, they could recite the chain of ownership and value of each and every site in town. Having conducted business with Irene & Anthony D’Agostino and having enjoyed mutual social interests, Martha & Connie approached the D’Agostino’s when they decided to retire. Although the idea of a career in real estate was a 180 degree departure from her educational interests and encouraged by Tony, Irene accepted the Greene’s proposal. Today, 65 years later Irene as the broker and her son John as the associate broker continue to do business under their dba – Martha Greene Real Estate, LLC which is currently one of the last original sole proprietorship firms in Montauk.
